WFDA Charity Manager required

Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association is a charity that works to enable neurodiverse people to understand their learning differences, provide specialist support and build confidence to enable children and adults to reach their potential in education and the workplace. WFDA has been running since 1989. It was set up and is run by a trustee board. Although affiliated with the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) WFDA is dependent on membership subscription, grants and fundraising.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic but calm person to manage the day to day running of the Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association (WFDA) including the provision of classes and other WFDA events.

The purpose of the role is to enable the smooth running of the Charity managing the funding application process and maintain the relationship with relevant sponsorship bodies.

The role holder will report to the Chair of Trustees but will also liaise with parents, teachers and trustees as well as volunteers.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills in addition to the ability to promote the Charities activities to potential funding bodies.

WFDA Class Co-ordinator required

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic but calm person to be the face of Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association (WFDA) at our classes and other WFDA events.

The purpose of the role is to enable the smooth running of classes and screenings as well as to supply administrative support.

The post holder will report to the Charity Manager but will also liaise with parents, teachers and trustees as well as volunteers.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate that you are confident in working with the target population. You will also need to demonstrate that you have good administrative skills including IT skills.

Tutors

Whilst we do not have any current vacancies, we also hold onto potential applications for these roles.

Primary level literacy tutor

AND

Specialist dyslexia trained tutor in literacy (primary school level)

£35 per hour teaching session

Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association (Registered Charity Number 802993) requires both a specialist dyslexia trained secondary level numeracy tutor and a primary level literacy tutor for after school dyslexia support classes for low income families.

Our classes are funded by parent donation, BBC Children In Need and DM Thomas Foundation for Young People.

Classes are 50 minute sessions for 2 -3 students held between 4.00pm – 7.00pm on Tuesdays during WFDA term time (34 weeks a year) at George Mitchell (Through) School, Farmers Road, Leyton, E10 5DN.
